Born and brought up in Bhutan, Sonam currently works for the Bhutanese Government and meets myriad tourists on a daily basis. He is extremely proud of his country and loves giving people an insight into the beauty that lies within Bhutan. He lives with his wife, who also drives a cab during the day. At night, they both cook for themselves. For him, there is no distinction of gender roles and both he and his wife work and run the house together. Sonam and his wife received 14 acres of land from the King and they also spend time cultivating and toiling their land. While driving, another fellow banged into our car and Sonam's reaction left us gaping with shock. He stepped out and both of them had a calm conversation, checked the car and smilingly figuring out how to fix an extensive damage that had occurred. Used to people aggressively accusing the one at fault, we were amazed at his attitude and amicable nature, especially in the given circumstances.
